Father's Day Weekend

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

We spent most of last weekend in the car, driving the nine hours to Virginia for a quick Father's Day weekend with the family and then back to Athens by Monday morning. There was little sleep, too much gas station food, and a lot of traffic. But there was also a full day spent floating down the Shenandoah River, perfect weather all weekend, Sunday lunch on the porch, and fresh peaches over our ice cream. The good parts did a great job balancing out the annoying parts (aka I-85).

I thought it was a cute group picture in spite of my closed eyes.

We surprised our parents on Sunday with a painting of the house we grew up in -- their current home -- that's being torn down in a few weeks. Of course, they had to test it out in its new home.
