House Hunting Dream ListMonday, March 07, 2016
From the get-go, we've been looking for a ranch style home and the more we see, the more I fall in love with this style home. They're just so versatile. Some are very traditional looking, while others have a full-fledged mid-century vibe going on. I can't get enough of them.
Here are some of the things on our dream home wish list. Since we're game to purchase a fixer-upper, we're mostly looking for something that has the potential of having all of these things (such as hardwood floors and an open floor plan) since the chances of lucking out with all of this on an older home are probably slim.
Decent commute for Mark
Office space for me
Basement/work space for Mark
Not on a main highway
Built before the 1980s
Lots of natural light
Nice to haves:
Open floor plan
Porch or patio
Decent size backyard
Now that the weather is getting warmer and more houses are coming available, the process has become a lot less discouraging and more like a fun treasure hunt. I am perfectly happy spending sunny afternoons exploring different neighborhoods and looking for houses, so it's become a lot more fun now that we can get out more often. And the more houses we see, the more I'm glad we haven't settled for anything yet that doesn't really suit us.
