Our Big NewsMonday, June 08, 2015
After a few whirlwind months of boxes, packing, cleaning, organizing, and packing some more, Mark and I are ready to share our big news. Dramatic pause, please............
In a few short weeks, we will be official residents of Athens, Georgia! We are moving to the land of the Georgia Bulldogs, that "Classic City of the South".
It's funny how you can announce a move and it sounds so effortless, almost flippant. The reality is there were months and months spent debating whether or not we should move, weighing options, and discussing plans. It was a never-ending conversation that we had over and over until finally in January we decided that yes, we're moving. It felt so good to put a period at the end of that sentence and have a decision made. Unfortunately, it was just that — a decision. There was still an enormous amount of things to plan and figure out. And, as with most major life decisions, those plans all seemed to wait until the last minute to fall into place.
We didn't plan to start our married life here in Richmond, but when we decided to get married before I finished my last semester of college, it just worked out that way. It has been an incredibly special time. We love our little neighborhood in the West End, being so close to the mighty James, and being close to my family. That being said, we're also very excited about starting a new adventure farther south.
In the next few weeks, we will finish packing all of our belongings into boxes and strategically squeezing them into a moving truck. We'll be in Georgia just in time to celebrate the Fourth of July. I will be keeping my Richmond marketing job and joining the work-from-home world in Athens. It's going to be a big change working remotely instead of in the office, but I am excited to keep working for such a great company. Plus, I'll have an excuse to make trips back to Richmond periodically. Just kidding, there are a lot more reasons to visit Richmond than just work!
If you need me between now and this fall, you can find me knee-deep in a thousand boxes. The packing and unpacking phase seems endless, but we'll get there. In the meantime... look out, Athens, we're coming for you!
