honeymoonin' on the brooklyn bridge

Thursday, June 13, 2013

On our last full day in New York, Mark and I decided to take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. It was one of the hottest days of our trip and we had just spent all morning bike riding through Central Park, so adding a long walk to Brooklyn to the agenda probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. Our feet were crying by the end of the day, but I'm glad we did it anyways! It was so cool to walk across one of the oldest suspension bridges in America and imagine what it must've been like to build something so incredible.

We hadn't really planned anything to follow our bridge trek, but our feet were pretty sore so we headed to Brooklyn Heights Promenade to find a park bench and watch the sun go down. Brooklyn Heights reminded me a lot of Georgetown and I would love to go back to that neighborhood when we have more time to explore! Mark set up his camera to take pictures at 30-second intervals of the sun setting over the Brooklyn Bridge. He's a smarty like that. :) While I guarded the camera, Mark walked to Chipotle and brought back dinner. We sat there until the sun went down and then rode the train back to our hotel to nurse our hurting feet. It was a great way to end our trip to NYC!
