honeymoonin' at the standard

When we were planning our honeymoon, we narrowed our hotel choices down to The Nolitan in Nolita and The Standard in West Chelsea. Eventually, The Standard won because we couldn't pass up being so close to the High Line. Our room was small, but with two glass walls it felt much larger than it actually was. From our room we could see people walking along the High Line and watch the sun set over the mighty Hudson River. One day while we were there it drizzled rain all day long, so we ended up spending the majority of our evening in our room. We ordered pizza and watched movies and enjoyed our awesome view of New York.

We loved being so close to the High Line and the neighborhood of West Chelsea was really cute. The only weird thing about this hotel were the elevators. They were pitch black with a small screen on the wall that showed images that I guess were supposed to represent heaven and hell. It was very creepy and a little out of character with the rest of the hotel. I never did figure out the meaning behind that crazy elevator.
